Clothes and virtue..

when we look at pictures of our grand parents. Do we not see people that knew how to dress. Men wore hats. Women wore hats, gloves..

it didn’t matter if they were Rich or Poor.. people seem to want to dress nicely, even elegantly.. when you watch movies on Turner Classic from the 30 and 40.. everyone looked like a million bucks.

When I was in high school I was the Matire D.. at a local bar and grill in Boston Common in Arlington.. not a fancy place. The place was called ‘Slades’ But I was not to allow people in who wore shorts.. then around the late 80 work started Casual Friday..

It seems that even now expensive restraunt you can go and eat wearing clothes that look like you just got off the beach.
Now This fits my personality, as I have have never been given to fashion.. and for me one of the great benefits of being a priest is wearing black almost every day.. I can go from taking out the trash to go to the White HOuse by maybe just adding a black jacket..

Today every day is casual Friday. In fact more than casual, as I am struck by how many people you can see shopping flying wearing PJ and Sleepers..

Not all but maybe most people now choose what comfortable over what might be considered fashionable..
now I don’t think we need to go back to the 40 fashion wise..

But there is still something about the person will seek to look ekegant. Coco style was all about knowing you.. and a Coco man or women knew how to to dress. Something that i think we hAve lost.. as comfort casual flip flops PJ are common to see when you go to the grocery store.

Now I am about as big a fashion slob as you can get.. that is because I prefer not to think about what I have to put on.. black pants black shirt..

Just look at your family photos from 80 years ago.. are you not Struck how elegant everyone seems too dress..
Just a thought..?

What will our grand children think of us when they look at our pictures in 100 years.
