Revival and Freedom of the Spirit.. Come Holy Spirit..
I was just watching a EWTW report on the Out Pouring of the Holy Spirit in Kentucky.. What is new in the Catholic Church is unlike many other out pouring of the Holy Spirit.. say in Toronto in 1995.. The Catholic Church is a lot less skeptical, even if many in the Catholic Church do not understand.. In fact.. The bishops themselves are saying now Revival Revival Revival Come Holy Spirit.. In our Eucharistic Revival..
But what I think we now have in common with let say the same college in Kentucky.. and what struck me ‘What will happen.’ ‘I bet.’ is this… How long will they let the freedom of the out pouring of the Holy Spirit last.. How long before we want to shut it down..
So the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit started at the this small college in the first few day in February.. nothing plan.. The Holt Spirit just showed up.. like when the Holy Spirit showed up at a retreat in Pittsburg with college kids in the mid 1960.

So when I was following up on this revival. The college said after about 3 weeks.. We need to get back to business and it was shut down.. This doesn’t mean that it was not God.. It does mean, that practical consideration like, the kids need to study, We need the hall for the lecture next week on ‘the use of coco beans in the making of chocolate.’ We are much more practical now than ever. The Holy Spirit is like a water fall. It will find crack where we not only desire God but give Him Space.

I got off my book shelf  the paper of one of the great Holy Spirit revivals, Azusa Street Revival.’ And I was struck by the 1906-1908. Meaning it was a non stop Holy Spirit revival for 2 years.. Now the Catholic Church has 24/7 Holy Spirit revival in Perpetual Adoration chapel some of which go back 100 years, like the Sacred Heart Church in Paris.. But let say.. The Holy Spirit fell after a Mass and hundreds of people were getting healed.. would we leave any time freedom of the Holy Spirit to heal and touch our hearts. Or would we immediately say.. we have much more practical use of this space such as the Ladies Auxiliary  are having their monthly meeting today..

If we want the Holy Spirit to come. We can’t just say ‘Come Holy Spirit.’ We also have to be willing to adjust out schedule, timetable to mean what we say.. when we say ‘Come Holy Spirit.’ The Holy Spirit is like water and will come with Revival Fire where is not only called upon in Faith and Pure Hearts but is given the space to move even when it means that cupcake sake at 6pm needs to be moved to a later date..
