Today is the Feast Day of St Christopher..

As Dionysius the Greek God of wine was a type of Jesus who gives us the new wine of His Blood and the Holy Spirit.. so..

As the ancient would come to the water edge to invoke Poseidon for safe travels across the sea.. to guide and protect them as they made their passage through the sea.. so Poseidon is a type of St Christopher..

Good St Christopher wanted to serve the great king, strong he was.. came to the sea and say a little boy who asked Christopher to carry Him across the water..

As he did.. he discovered that the little boy was almost too heavy for his night strength.. but he preserved and carried the little boy to safety on the other side on the distant shore.. the boy showed that He was Jesus..

As we see types of Jesus in the OT.. the Greek God also we types of Jesus Mary.. so we no longer need to invoke Poseidon who could not even keep Odysseus safe, but actually served to prolong his journey Home.. St Christopher is The true one the new Poseidon.. the one we can invoke to carry us over the waters. As he was faithful in carrying Jesus on the water he has merited the grace to carry you and me when we are at danger in the sea!!
