Padre Pio Ministry to the Suffering

Father Stefan Starzynski is currently assigned as the full-time Catholic Chaplain for the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Annandale, VA. He brings pastoral hope and healing to patients, their family & friends, and hospital staff on a 24-hour basis.

The Prayer Folders that Fr. Stefan distributes have given comfort and hope to the sick; brought many people back to their faith, and helped others convert to the Catholic Faith. Through it, the sick and their family/friends know they are not alone in their suffering, and Father has witnessed many miraculous healings.

Fr. Stefan is often with dying patients and he likes to say that he helps escort the soul into Heaven by administering the Sacraments, praying the Litany of Saints and Divine Mercy chaplet at their bedside, and giving an Apostolic Blessing to forgive their sins when they are about to go to God.

When he visits other patients, he often gives them a folder containing a booklet of powerful prayers and other information to help them turn to God during their time of suffering. These patients are usually touched by the Divine Mercv of Jesus and
many are brought to healing by improved conditions, and even outright miracles.

While these accomplishments are wonderful, Fr. Stefan and the Hospital Ministry hope to broaden the Padre Pio Ministry to the Suffering from its current evangelization efforts at nova Fairfax hospital, into all the hospitals in the diocese, as well
as nursing homes, hospice centers and home-bound patients.

We want to make the Prayer Folders and pastoral services available to thousands more throughout the Arlington Diocese who are in need of hope and healing.

We are also in the process of translating the folder’s prayers and information into Spanish to reach more people.
In 2020-21, when hospitals were restricted due to Covid-19, Fr. Stefan says that he was “one of the few priests in the U.S. that was continuing to do my job without any change.”
