The priests prays in the opening prayer ‘O God, who in your unfathomable providence are pleased to send your holy Angels to guard us, hear our supplication as we cry to you, that we may always be defended by their protection and rejoice eternally in. their company.’

In the Book of Exodus ‘Thus says the Lord: ‘See, I am sending an angel before you on the way to bring you to the place I have prepared. Be attentive to him and head his voice…My authority resides in him. If you heed his voice and carry out all I tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies and foe to your foes.’

Psalm 91 says ‘ The Lord has put angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.’ ‘ You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in t he shadow of the almighty.’ … We are under the shadow of His Wings.  and ‘No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come near your tent, For to his angels he has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways.’

The Catechism Par 328 ‘the existence of the spiritual, non.-corporal beings that Sacred Scripture calls ‘angels’ is a truth of faith. The witness os Scripture is as clear  as the unanimity of Tradition.’ Par 328 ‘As purely spiritual creatures angels have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures, surpassing in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendor of their glory bears witness.’

Jesus tells us in the Gospel ‘See that you do not despise on of these little ones for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my Heavenly Father.’  The catechism in Par 336 ‘From the beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. ‘Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.’  Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united to God.’

Don Anscar Vonier, O,S,B, writes ‘Angelic guardianship is something natural, something normal, as normal as the great powers of the physical cosmos. The spirits have not received a mission to interfere with man’s action; they have received a mission to save save man from the results of his own evil deeds as far as is compatible with the higher dictates of God’s justice. When an angel shows his protecting power manifestly as when he delivered Peter from the prison.’

(Acts 12 3-9) ‘So Peter was kept in prison, but the Church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trail, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.  Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cel. He struck Peter an the side and woke him up. ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell ofd Peter’s wrist. …. ‘Peter followed him out of the prison.’…’When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.’

Dom Vonier writes ‘ Illumination of man’s mind is the most direct and most constant effect of the angelic tutelage; according to Saint Thomas Aquinas, it is not too much to say that the human race is kept in mental equilibrium through the unceasing watchfulness of the good spirits.’

St Faustina writes Diary 1111 ‘As the Sisters were making their vows. I heard Angels singing in various tones. ‘Holy, Holy, Holy.’ with chanting so delightful that no human tongue could ever match it.’

Just a thought… I think we all are considered angels/spirits here on earth. It is only when we hold onto/pray for help that Saints in heaven, who once were angels(us) hear us and guide other angels that are open to God’s will can be moved to help others that are also praying. Hence Angel guardian. Arc Angels have a name & are also called saints. Does this make sense? Only saints were known after Jesus died on the Cross. Could that have been St. Steven(first Martyr) helping Apostle Peter at time. No one knew about Saints yet. I think we are the Angel Guardians when we are opened to do God’s will with us through Mary, especially. I only began seeing it this way because of a prayer that Jesus said to say when we someone we think is in need.

“Angel guardian thank you for your constant vigil over this soul. Saints in heaven please assist this dear angel.”

Jesus also said that once it was said, the person, who was said for, would have all that they need. ref. Direction For Our Times.

Because it comes from Jesus, He is thanking the Angel that is praying(guardian) in first sentence, and then second sentence is calling on the Saints in heaven to do the assisting. See? lol

Thank you, Father! Ps. I say the prayer from Jesus for you everyday + 8 more priest by name. pss. You’re my favorite, always. You never bore us to tears. you’re lively & fun. THANK YOU! 🦄

The Angel Guardian prayer from Jesus is a powerful prayer.(duh :)). The Words popped into my soul once i found it & I could see Jesus’ meaning of it instantly… and have seen it this way ever since. Us angels turn into saints if we Listen RIGHT. Right? The first time I used this prayer, I was living in DC. I tested it out on a homeless person. He was the most in your face annoying beggar I had ever encountered there… so I said it for him. lol He was never in front of that 7-Eleven again eventhough he’d been there for over 2 yrs. Later I saw him 2 blocks away and he look different & happier & actually looked at me with soft eyes. I never stopped saying this prayer since…that’s was 7.5 yrs ago. I give it to EVERYONE!

ps. We just call her Maya but I put her middle name in for good measure. We later found out that Maya means Maria. Maria Maria lol. But how beautiful a name to be called Maria Maria on Angel Guardian Feast Day, right? Your post also made me remember the picture of Mary from Her Blue Book “OUR LADY’S MESSAGE OF MERCY FOR THE WORLD”. It shows angels at Mary’s feet. They don’t have wings but look like newborn babies. We have to be little… like newborns are/helpless/innocent…so She can easily guide us this way. She is our Sweetest of Mothers & She is our Buttress & our Rudder through, or against any & all STORMS. Amen 👼🤱💖
