Jesus was right next to me. Asbury revival sets Catholic on fire with the Holy Spirit… Catholics and revivals. Right now there is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Asbury.. That I am sure of.
Now we as Catholic might say we ‘Have the Holy Spirit’ we “have the Eucharist.’ Yes we do… But that fact ought not make us proud… or look down on other Christians who live Godly Lives and say and pray ‘Come Holy Spirit.’ St Paul says ‘No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.’ Now when I was in the seminary 92-96… I was the last person anyone would have described as Charismatic…for me.. Give me doctrine, Cannon Law, the Catechism.
But a funny thing happens 2 days after my ordination on May 18 1996.. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit.. Pentecost was not an event that only happened 2000 years ago.. Pope Paul VI said taught that the Church lives by Pentecost.. That we need a perennial Pentecost..
Hugh Rahher wrote about the creed.. that when we say ‘We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Church.’ That this needs to be corrected that we don’t believe in the Church in the same sense that we believe in the Church. We believe in the Holy Spirit in an absolute sense.. and we believe in the Church is a response reflective sense because we first believe in the Holy Spirit. Simply put we can only believe in the Church because we first believe in the Holy Spirt.
This first a reflection in the Catholic Church theology of Good Friday.. The Church discourages the other sacraments on that day, except in emergencies? Why to highlight the Cross which is the source of every blessing.. That before there was any sacraments there was the Cross which was the Big Bang which gave birth to all the sacraments.. or as St Thomas taught the Cross is the efficient cause of grace of all the sacraments..
Vatican II taught that the seeds of grace truth grace are scattered.. while it is true that the Catholic Church is the fullness of Truth.. God the Father loves all those who seek Him with a purity of heart and soul..
and because many Christians while not having the fullness of truth seeks Jesus and the Holy Spirit.. the Father pours out the HOLY SPIRIT, the answer is not to say ‘who are you we have the Eucharist… We have the fullness of truth.. The answer is to be found.. that before there was any sacraments of the New Covent.. there was the Holy Spirit…
St Paul says ‘No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.’
