The Blessed Virgin Mary is an image of the Holy Spirit.
A mother gives us life in the natural. The Holy Spirit gives life to us in the supernatural. It is not our mother that gives us life?
We say in the creed about the Holy Spirit that He is the Lord and the Giver of Life. It was the Holy Spirit that inspired the life of Jesus in the womb of Mary. It is the same Holy Spirit that hovers over the waters of baptism when we are reborn as a child of God. As Jesus was born from the womb of Mary. We are born from the womb of the Church.
Even now we are spiritually in the womb of Mary. One day we will be born anew when we enter into Heaven. Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one in born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God…Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”(John 34-6) We are born the first time in water and we are born supernaturally in the waters of baptism.
Even now we are supernaturally in the womb of Mary, and the milk of the Holy Spirit is making us strong and forming Jesus in us.
