What is striking about the difference of modern parenting and what I read of let say ‘lives of the saints’ is that in the lives of the saints you read they had 12 children… Mrs was very devout.. Mr was stern but loving.. they were poor rich… often tragedy occurred… the older children took care of younger children, extended family helped..

Children were expected to do chores.. the Father often was head of the family both in religious matter and economic. As one Pope said ‘the Dad was the head the mom was the heart of the family’ idea… the more we feel we are loved the less we need.. Our Grandparents were often so busy keeping house and home together.. they didn’t have time or luxury to wonder how they were doing..

This is in contrast to idea that quality time is more important than just time spent with your kids or spouse.. Kids what just time with their mom and dad, even if it washing the dishes, chopping wood. Each kid is unique and need both protective love but also to figure out the world on their own.. to solve their own problem..

final Idea our ancestors had no parenting books.. other than the Bible lives of the saints..We have million of parenting books.

One author said ‘before I had kids I knew how to raise a child. Now that I have 3 kids I have no idea.’

Yes there are things we can learn from sons parenting books. But in the end our grandparents were nearer to the truth than generations XYZ…
