Last night read the Passion at Mass at the hospital.. In the homily told a story of a good thief that stole heaven on that very day.. He went to confession less than 2 hours before he died.. and after death prayed the litany of Saints, Chaplet of Mercy..
During the homily.. almost at a perfect time… the lights went out in the room. the winds I guess knocked out the lights,, as the Mass is in the ground floor, hard to find.. the room was cast into darkness. The Mass starts at 730, so with the long homily we were well past 8pm..
So finishing my homily.. mentioned the lien from the passion ‘There was an eclipse of the sun and darkness covered the earth from 12 to 3 pm, and the rocks were split in two’ in Homily this reference is symbolic of going back to the chaos before creation, that Jesus death on the cross was a new creation. As we kneeled,, stood and sat in the darkness, with maybe a flicker of light from a cell phone so that some could follow the prayer. We continue the Mass in darkness.. thought of the Vigil Mass and the Candles..
We continued in Darkness, Not the Darkness that Judas had, as he left the Last Supper and it was dark. We continued in the darkness thank full that we were about to receive Jesus the Light of the World in the Eucharist…
Jesus the creator truly knows how to provide the backdrops for the Mass.. The same Jesus who said ‘Let there be Light’ Said ‘Let there be Darkness during our Mass last night.’
