A book entitled ‘ Fatima the Great Daughter of Prophet Muhammad’ says ‘Fatima is the leader of all the women in paradise.’ In a article titled “Between Mary and Fatima: the research of a young scholar from Turkey.’ she writes ‘Hulya Haciismailoglu once saw a statue of a woman in a book. At first glance, she thought it was a Catholic representation of Mary, the mother of Jesus, but then discovered it was Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad…..In Sunni Isalm, we don’t accept a mediation role between human beings and God. However, in Shi’a Islam this is much more accepted, and Fatima is considered a mediator. Like Mary in the Catholic tradition, she earns the title ‘Virgin’ although this term was maybe used with a different meaning.’

My point…is not to reduce the Virgin Mary but to highlight that more might be at work when Mary appeared at Fatima Portugal.

Carrie Gress in her book ‘The Marian Option’ writes in the chapter ‘Our Lady of Fatima Conquering Fatima’..’ Fatima, too, was a place of Islamic conversion–this time of a Muslim princess who was won over to the Faith. The princess Fatima was captured by Christian forces when the Moors occupied Portugal. She was then betrothed to the Count of Ourem (the region in which the village of Fatima is located’ and converted to Catholicism before the wedding in 1158. She took the baptismal name Ourena.’

Our Lady of Fatima in the providence of God certainly has a place to play in the conversion of Russia, but she might have a place to play in leading our muslim brothers and sisters to the True Mother of Fatima the Virgin Mother Mary, Mother of Jesus..
