The Priest or Deacon prays ‘May you be delivered from all illness of the throat and every other illness in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit.’

Yesterday was Candle Mass Day..feast day of the Presentation in the Temple. At the mass candles are blessed.

This is 40 days after Christmas, so officially the Christmas season is over. The 40 days goes back to the book of Leviticus.. When a new mom would come to the temple to receive a blessing.

The Days are getting brighter.. So the cosmic calendar mirrors the liturgical. Jesus is the Light of the world. Jesus the one who brings the true light that enlighten every man.

Today on the feast of St Blaise, as a boy was chocking on a fish bone. St Blaise intercession was sought. The Boy life was saved.

So a tradition develop where two candles were placed on the throats of people. And the cleric said that the person would be ‘healed from the disease of the throat and every other illness.’

There are pictures that the candles were ever lit. That the two were lighted with flames of fire.

At mass I ask people have you ever been to a mass and healing service. Well, if the Bishop, Priest or Deacon blessed your throat today than you can say ‘Yes.’
