There is a connection to St Therese.. Fr Baker.. Today feast day.. and my Mom…

Today is the feast day of St Therese little Flower.. My mom grew up In Buffalo and right behind the Catholic High School was a Carmelite Monastery where my mom brought food for the sisters…

Last night I watched a glorious movie about St Therese.. movie from 1952… at the end of the movie.. it ends wits St Therese being proclaimed a saint in Rome… May 17 1925….

When I did my last Fr Baker Retreat in Buffalo.. I spent a day in prayer at this Carmel in Buffalo which is named after St Therese..

When I went up a sister told me this… that 2 Carmelite sisters were in Mexico.. shot and left for dead.. St Therese was blessed.. one of the sister said to Therese..’Therese if you are a saint and save us we will make a monastery after you.’

Well the sisters survived and meet Fr Baker at the train station in Buffalo.. Fr Baker was the vicar general of the Diocese of Buffalo.. second only to the BIshop in authority.. well Father Baker bought the land for the Carmel.. and it was the first Carmel in the world named after Saint Therese.. , because as the sister told me.. on May 17 1925.. the sisters were listening to the radio.. and when they heard the Pope solemnly proclaim Therese now Saint Therese in the Universal Church.. and co patron with St Joan of Arc of France.. the priest rang the bell to consecrate the Carmel to Saint Therese.. so the Carmel in Buffalo is the first Carmel in the world named and consecrated to St Therese.

Now.. I wonder if Fr Baker was the priest who celebrated the Mass.. ?

The sister told me they have one of Fr Baker vestments as a relic in the Carmel.

If you go to Our Lady of Victory Church which Fr Baker built.. you will see a statue of St Therese behind the altar…
