What are the odds… When I was in High School I took Latin because it was a dead language… you didn’t have to speak it.. I had a learning disability when it came to speaking foreign languages, in fact I had a learning disability in comprehension in general.

When I was in high school I flunked Latin..I took it again second year of High School and passed I think with a D… I took an exam to see if I was qualified to learn a foreign language.. because at my High School 2 years of languages were required… the results from the exam…. was ‘Stefan can live in a foreign country for 10 years and never pick up the language. He has no ability to learn a foreign language… This enabled me to take an untimed SAT exam… I remember getting the exam questions and I was given an exam that another student used and wrote on… I am like what… well when I didn’t know the answer to a question I looked at the answer that the student who used my exam put down…

When I went to college to prove that I could understand Latin.. I took 2 years of Latin.. I even was able to translate Ovid.. and such… but never speak and truth be told I know about as much of latin as I do Arabic… Latin was never easy.. and more than not easy.. the Cure of Ars would have been a Latin scholar compared to me…

So in the history of. the Church.. the mass was said in Latin.. and even today most of the priests that I know who are recently ordained still know enough Latin to pray the Mass.. All. I remember is Gaul is divided into 3 parts.. Well let just take the last 1000 years.. the Mass was prayed in Latin till around 1970.. ever priest had to know Latin… so take the number of priests from the year 1000 to 2022.. what ever that number is millions.. 99.9 percent had to know Latin to be ordained.. and what is the odds that a dunce.. and we gets the word dunce from Duns Scotus Blessed.. Yes we get the word Dunce from the Blessed who out smart.. Thomas Aquinas…

But what is the odds that a man who could not learn Latin.. became a priest..

Why do I say this…. because is Latin more powerful than English.. is the devil more afraid of Latin than prayer said in English.. am I less of a priest because I don’t know Latin… Is the mass more powerful if prayed in Latin.. I don’t know.. I would say this… I would say that the prayers that were composed in Latin have more power as they were written by men and women of deeper faith and tradition..

I often feel like I am less of a priest because I don’t know Latin.. I wish I did know Latin.. but I do think that…. well the devil might hate Latin as it is the language of the Church.. I would still say it is faith that is most powerful even if prayed in English…
