Holy Saturday Adam and Judas

We read from the LIturgy of Hours today…

‘He has gone to search for our first parent, as for a lost sheep. Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow the captives Adam and Eve, he who is both God and the son of Eve. The Lord approached them bearing the cross, the weapon that had won him the victory. At the sight of him Adam, the first man he had created, struck his breast in terror and cried out to everyone: “My Lord be with you all.” Christ answered him: “And with your spirit.” He took him by the hand and raised him up, saying: “Awake, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

Dante in Paradise see Adam in Heaven.. with such notable as St. John and St Bernard..Dante asks 4 questions.. one how long were you in the garden before you sinned. Adam 6 hours…

‘Adam confirms this by saying that he can indeed see Dante’s mind reflected in the perfect mirror that is God’s mind, but which no mirror can reflect perfectly. He summarizes Dante’s four questions: How long has it been since Adam was in Eden? How long did he stay in Eden? What was the true cause of God’s anger? What language did Adam speak?’

Adam head of the Human race.. can lay claim to the grestest sin.. original sin.. think about that.. the sin that resulted in all of mankind being alienated from God. Now on this Holy Saturday.. the ancient homily has Jesus the new Adam in search of the first Adam. Adam is in Abraham bosom.. limbo.. but not in Hell..

Adam must have repented.. the greatest sin was forgiven by his repentance.. so much so that Dante put Adam in the 7th mansion of Heaven. Dante see Adam right after see St John and right before seeing St Bernard who takes Dante to see the Eternal Rose Mary..

Maybe the greatest contact between forgiveness mercy and eternal loss is not between the sin and forgiveness of Judas and Peter.. but between Adam and Judas.

Adam being in Heaven is the greatest proof that Jesus death on the Cross will forgive any sin..
