Fr Stefan thought for the day.. the True.. the Good and the Beautiful…

St Thomas Aquinas taught that nothing is in the intellect that was no first in the sense..

But as St Bonaventure says ‘For there are many who love beauty, but beauty lies not in external things, but in His Likeness.’
Meaning we find something beautiful because we have an imitate sense of God who is beautiful.

Also.. not everyone is attracted to Beauty.. why because Sin disfigures God creation.. the disordered Soul is actually attracted to ugliness.

Sin is never beautiful.. in a real way.. the devil hell itself is not beautiful.. so in movies from Raiders of the Lost Ark.. to Lord of the Rings.. the experience of evil is never beautiful.. but we can’t comprehend the other ice of the supernatural nature of evil thus of the devil and evil the disordered soul who think that it is beautiful… the sinful soul would see the devil as an angel of light.. but Mary would not..

Because we don’t know what beauty is.. Jesus had to disfigure Himself on the Cross.. Jesus death on the Cross was to help us see true beauty.
