We are called to be our own person.. I think it was Shakespeare who said ‘to your own self be true.’

But we are made who we are in a network of relationship. We become who we are by living out our lives in a series of relationships Vatican 11 says ‘that it is only in Jesus that man discovers himself and it is only in a sincere gift of self that we find ourselves.’

Scripture says ‘the man who looses himself finds himself.’

A book titled ‘LIturgy and Personality ‘ writes that liturgy, mostly the mass. We by praying the mass take upon our hearts and lips the voice and prayers of the Church. We become who we are, we become more human. We become more Devine. And because of that we our personality becomes more real.

Outside of the mass our personality is limited to and wrapped into a world of our own petty desire, and because of sin and lust we become less human and less personal. We become like everyone else. We become less unique

Jesus and the liturgy enables us to become who we are meant to be. a child of God.

In Heaven we will shine and each person will reflect a certain attribute of God.

In the end it is the saints who shine with a divine human personality as we are clothed in Christ.

It is often when the mass seems uninspiring but we enter by faith into the sacrifice of the mass that the old Adam is stripped away and we become a liturgical person and in that our true personality shines forth.
