I am now reading ‘How the Catholic Church can Restore our Culture ‘ by Archbishop Ganswein..

Pope Benedict was a man of the second Vatican Council.. It is often said that Vatican 11 was a postural council, not a doctrinal one.. but archbishop Ganswein says reflecting Pope Benedict that Vatican 11 was doctrinal as much as the council of Nieca. As the council of N in 325 affirmed the full divinity of Christ.. and that is at it roots pastoral.. so V 11 refuted the rationalism secularization of our day.. rationalism was a heresy.. so at it root V11 was as much doctrinal as pastoral.

Vatican 11 affirmed the Church as a mystery.. and highlighted the people of God. Meaning as our world collapse.. we need to remember that the ‘Holy Spirit is the Soul of the Church ‘ as St Augustine says…

Maybe V 11 foresaw a day.. like today when the People of God would need to rely on the Charisms gifts of the Holy Spirit.. Karl Raher once said ‘the true believers in the future will have to be mystics.’ Meaning I think needing to be like St John in book of Revelation who ‘looks up and sees an open door in Heaven’

Faith gives light and allows us to see into Heaven.. and Hope that allows us to draw down to earth the substance the good things of Heaven’ Hope makes present Heaven on earth.. as Pope B says in his E on Hope.. ‘Saved by Hope’ Pope Paul V1 said ‘that the charismatic renewal was a last Hope for the Church.

We don’t Grow in faith hope and charity when life is easy.. those who are faithful to Christ and His Church say in China North Korea and in many other places.. they needed to learn that Jesus is preserved and present among them..

Are there faithful Christians answer Yes.. in many ways I think more people are making acts of Faith Hope and Charity than in the past because the times are so difficult to remain faithful..

At death we lose everything but our Faith Hope and Charity. where in spite of everything we know and believe that Jesus is truly and really substantial presence in the Holy Eucharist.
