From the Book ‘The Divine Plan’ by Paul Kengor and Robert Orland they tell us ‘ On Sept 1 1939 when Wojtyla (John Paul II) was 19 the Nazis invaded Poland from the west. Less than three week later on Sept 17 the Soviets invaded Poland from the East. All of Poland was under population. Karol Wojtyla joined the underground.’
Who started the underground.. One of the main founder was Major Stefan Starzynski was was the major of Warsaw in 1939. He was killed by the Gestapo ‘according to institute’s finding, three Gestapo officers led by Oberscharfueher Herman Schimmann carried out the execution of Starzynski between 21 and 23 October.’ (I think he died for the faith, so I am praying for his intercession.’
During the last fatal days he went to concert of Chopin. He is buried symbolically in the avenue of notable next to the parents of Chopin in Powazki Cemetery. As the German were bombing Warsaw the people went to the opera house to listen to Chopin. The Polish have a flair for the dramatic and style. Roman Polanski’s movie ‘The Pianist’ recalls a chance meeting on the same day with another key figure of the time, Stefan Starzynski, Warsaw’s major.’ From an article titled ‘Concert commemorates Polish Radio’s final musical broadcast before German occupation.’ by Joanna Jass
From this article she tells us that the. ‘Concert commemorates Polish Radio’s final musical broadcast before German Occupation’ by Joanna Jasinska. She writes ‘ On Sept 23, I played for the last time before the microphone of the Polish Radio.’ wrote the pianist. I don’t know myself how I got to the station. I meet President Starzynski at the door. He was casually dressed, unshaven, and had an expression of fatal fatigue on his face. he hadn’t slept for many days, as he was the soul of defense and a hero of the city. he shouldered the responsibility for the fate of Warsaw.’
This is right out a great story a divine drama. The music goes on. And she writes ‘It didn’t stop them though, as of October 1, Polish Radio operating in secret.’ The music goes on.
It was Our Lady of Czestochowas that carried them, as She will carry you.
The Music goes on!! Always..
